ABOUT The Book

An Intentional, Unique Reader Experience

When you suffer a loss, the last thing you need is a traditional book, which is why I created a book with a completely different experience!

Grief brain is real, so every chapter has short digestible sections you can take day by day. The book has artwork scattered throughout to give people space to pause and process. Grief can already feel gloomy, so why create another boring book full of black and white text when artwork can be so therapeutic? The colors, the energy, the watercolor style that allows water and feelings to flow across the page.

If you want to buy a gift for someone grieving, this book is designed to be a gender-neutral book that holds something for everyone no matter the age (teenagers to elders) and no matter the type of loss or how long it's been. You can even purchase the art separately here.

PRAISE FOR THE BOOK

What People Are Saying

The book offers a unique and manageable blend of grief education, insight into how our emotions and bodies naturally experience grief, and strategies to use our beautifully designed beings to begin to heal and move toward light. There is something for everyone in these exquisite pages, with artwork designed to rest our eyes and calm our nervous systems and text in small doses for grieving brains to take one step at a time. In all of my many years in grief support and education, I have never encountered any resource that offers so much in such a beautiful way.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Ashley Nicole Jones

TEDx Speaker · Grief Specialist · Founder, Momento Foundation

I wrote this book because I lived it. Once Skylar died, I was desperate for guidance. People would tell me what to expect, how I could feel, or what others might say, but no one told me what to do with it.

Once I founded the nonprofit to help people heal in grief, I would get calls from friends who found themselves experiencing sudden loss asking me what to do. Again, I found myself seraching for helpful resources I could send them. Many felt too clinical, too dissmisive, or too religious.

I deeply desired to find a book that was written with empathy and understanding, with a solid understanding and knowledge of grief research and grief in all of its forms. I wanted something beautiful, colorful even. After a decade of searching, I created it myself.

I have spent countless hours with families crying, talking, and listening as they navigate the darkness of loss. I am not here to fix anything, but to meet you in the darkness when you can't see the light as we let our eyes adjust to find our way through.

Huge thanks to Jeremy Cowart for the beautiful photo!

"You can be grieving and still living a wildly beautiful life."
