Building A Modeling Portfolio

After the Look Fabulous Tour last month, KiAnna (the gorgeous model in the gold dress) contacted me and said she’d like to do a shoot together. She wanted to build up her modeling portfolio and show a bit more lifestyle photos as well as modeling a rash guard that surfers typically wear. I was excited to test out some of the fashion techniques I learned on the tour from fashion photographer Lou Freeman and Lindsey Adler. There wasn’t a stylist for the shoot so KiAnna got the clothes and I secured the location and the surfboard for the photos. I also brought in a make-up artist that I am really excited to feature. Her name is Jessica Miller and you can find her website here. I have already begun offering her services to my Shutter Sweet Photography clients!

This was the first shoot where I could play with my two new 600 RT Canon Speedlites, which I really love. They’re so much easier than taking strobes with batteries on location and the new rogue XL flash modifiers (including a strip bank and larger soft box) are great to travel with too.

With gorgeous make up, a stunning location, and mention a beautiful model, we ended up with some great shots despite a few minor setbacks. Here are my top favorites from the shoot – I included one of make-up in the process so you could see Jessica’s work. Enjoy!
