Atlanta Fashion Photography (Look Fabulous Tour) & A Little About Me

Welcome to the new website design! This will be my first post since the new site is up and I wanted to start it off with a great one featuring the Look Fabulous Tour photos.

Ever since I was a little girl, I can remember wanting to be a model. I distinctly remember one time where my mom was shopping at a department store (and as a five-year old, I was bored), so I went to the front of the store and stood with the mannequins – wondering if I could pull it off. Every now and then I would change poses and hold it as people walked by. Some people would double-take and then I might crack a smile! I had fun and did it whenever I had the chance.

As I got older, I still wanted to model and my parents so graciously let me follow my dreams. After a photo shoot to get some head shots in high school, I went to stay with my aunt and uncle in NYC for a couple weeks and visited a few agencies just to see what they would say. Apparently I was “commercial” and “interesting” with a “unique bone structure” – whatever that means. After people picked apart my features, I was a little turned off to being on that side of the camera and realized I didn’t want to put my insecure adolescent self through that torture. I’m not going to lie, I still love the thought of it… And if a photographer friend asked me to be a model, I would jump on the chance to get some awesome looking pictures of myself, because, well, I’m female.

I would watch America’s Next Top Model throughout my college career and dreamed about what it would be like to be on the show. It was actually in college that I discovered my love for photography and being on the other side of the lens. I found out that I love telling stories and capturing moments to share with others – whether it was a portrait, a random street scene, events or whatever. I took a photography class or two at Clemson University within my graphic communications major, but am mostly self-taught with some help from a few great mentors who have been willing to share their skills through various workshops. Sal Cincotta, Lindsay Addler, Lou Freeman, Sue Bryce, Vicki Taufer and a few others have provided the encouragement I needed to jump to the next level and are partly responsible for my style and vision.

When I heard that the Look Fabulous Tour workshop was going to be here in Atlanta with Lou Freeman and Lindsay Adler, I couldn’t sign up fast enough! Lou and Lindsay are both incredible women with extraordinary talent. I was so grateful I was able to spend the entire day with them and pick their brains on some posing and lighting questions I had throughout the workshop to further improve my own skill. Anna Bradfield was one of the models (she was actually on America’s Next Top Model) and I felt like I knew her already from seeing her on the show, which made it really enjoyable to shoot with her. All of the models truly were fabulous and great to work with – it never hurts to have gorgeous people to photograph, but it’s even better when they’re nice. One last shout out to the crew and the sponsors. I’ve already placed my order with B&H photo for some additional lights and modifiers to start adding some fashion flair to my portraits! Best wishes to everyone on the tour as it continues around the rest of the country!

I wanted to share some photos with you from the day. I took these with my camera so they’re technically my photos, but I want to give credit to Lou and Lindsay for the outfits, styling and setup. They did an amazing job and I look forward to creating some more great shots completely of my own. Enjoy the preview!

Thanks for stopping by! Feel free to leave comments (I delete spam, although I welcome constructive criticism when done in a polite way). As far as what to expect on this blog, I’ll be updating it with some photos from my travel, personal inspiration photos (mostly story-telling), some thoughts about life, and anything else creative I might want to share with you. I hope you’ll come back and share this with others who might enjoy it. Peace.
